Glioma
Definition: A glioma is a type of tumor that occurs in the brain and spinal cord, originating from glial cells which surround nerve cells and provide support and insulation.
Current Status and Incidence: Gliomas comprise about 30% of all brain and central nervous system tumors, and 80% of all malignant brain tumors.
Treatment Methods: Treatments include surgery to remove the tumor, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy. The course of treatment depends on the tumor’s location, size, and type, as well as the patient’s overall health.
