Definition: Peritoneal mesothelioma originates in the lining of the abdomen and is the second most common type after pleural mesothelioma, attributed mainly to asbestos exposure.

Current Status and Incidence: It is a rare disease, representing about 15-20% of all mesothelioma diagnoses.

Treatment Methods: Treatment may involve cytoreductive surgery combined with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC), radiation therapy, and palliative care.
