Thoracic Mesothelioma

Thoracic Mesothelioma

Definition: Pleural mesothelioma is a rare and aggressive cancer that develops in the lining of the lungs, known as the pleura, typically caused by asbestos exposure.

Current Status and Incidence: It accounts for about 75% of all mesothelioma cases. Despite regulations, there are still incidences due to long latency periods between exposure and diagnosis.

Treatment Methods: Combination of surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. Palliative treatments may also be used to relieve symptoms.
